Rannoch:
I blinked as the change in lighting temporarily blinded me. when my eyes adjusted, i sniffed and looked out nervously onto the medow... it seamed to be safe, so i cautiously padded into it and began to and looked around, examining my environment. I sniffed, satisfied, then trotted over to a wide stream that was running nearby, and started to lap up some water. Then stopped startled. i saw something move in the reflection of the small pool i was drinking from. i popped my head up and looked around cautiously, but saw nothing. i sniffed the cool air, but whatever it was, it must be upwind for i didn't pick up anything out of the ordinary. I had to make absolutely sure that this land had not yet been claimed so i perked my ears up and i listened intently. i could hear the gentile wind blowing through the grass, then there was the forest with all it's small rodents and birds, there was the crickets quietly chirping in the meadow, yes, that was all there. it was there but not what i was looking for... but, then there was something else, something different that betrayed the peacefulness of my environment. subtle as it was, a stick cracking here, dry grass being bent there, dirt shifting. a suddenly chill ran up my spine, it was only by shear will that i kept myself from bolting. i felt eyes on me, unseen eyes. I could feel the tension building in the air. suddenly i heard a stick crack loudly, much closer. it was moving closer, closer. i pawed the ground nervously and lowered my antlers, ready for a fight. Then i blinked in surprise when a rabbit jumped out of the brush where i was looking. I must be losing my mind. i thought. and turned away sighing. Well, at least that must mean that no one has claimed this beautiful area. I slowly turned back to the bush i had been looking at. and whispered to myself "jumpy are we" then looked up at the sky, the sun had set, and the stars were beautiful tonight.
As the dark midnight sun was rising, i stood upon one of the hills overlooking the meadow, and growled to the world "I, Rannoch shall claim this land, may future generations thrive here, and may all whom wish to live here do so under my watchful eye. i will fight any buck, doe, or any other animal that serves as a threat to the peace of this a blooming wood
by now, the moon had risen high in the dim evening sky. the light that it emitted glittered off the stream like a thousand fireflies all driven in the same purpose, to form it's reflection. just the thought of it being so high up in the sky, and realizing how late it was made me tired. though i had always loved the night, and all the new seances and experiences that it brought with it.but... i was still an animal, and animals need rest. so i figured that this was good a time as any to get some shut eye, and trotted over to a tree and eased gracefully down to the ground, gently closed my eyes, and dozed off, dreaming dreams of hope in the future.
The blooming wood consists of a large forest that surrounds a ring of extremely steep hills in the middle of these hills sits the hidden meadow. cutting through all of this is a stream that flows wide and heavy in most places, but some places it branches into several forks, allowing animals to cross.
