Cursico spluttered, a spray of yellow grains flying from his grimacing lips. Despite the amount that came out, alot of it had stuck to the insides of his mouth or swirled around in his spit. Absolutely disgusting would be a great guess to how it tasted. His chest jerked in spasmodic heaves, a thin string of sandy liquid hung from the botom of his chin. And even worse, all there was to wash out his mouth was salt water!
He glared down at the grass which had avoided his mouth and sent it into a lump of sand, as if it had anything to do with it. Pulling his tongue to the back of his throat to try and keep more quartz from dropping down (He supposed it would be bad for his health, something good for you didn't often make you puke) the stag looked up at the darkening sky. Up above, heavy black clouds rolled. They somehow looked angry at the world below.
Rain wasn't salty- or at least not very- it could clean out his mouth. Cursico rose a hoof and pawed desperately at the air, lips still pulled back in a look of horrified disgust. It would take too long, he felt like he was dying from the little grains. The stag spat on the ground, purposely making himself drool. Salt water would have to do, he'd just have to try really hard not to swallow any that was all, and try not to go flying over a cliff and get smashed against the rocks...
It was worth a shot, even if he just looked down at the drop. Breathing heavily through his nose, he took slow deliberate steps across the taunting sand to the cliff-edge. The rush of water egging him on, as if it wanted him in the ocean's cool dark depths.

The sight of a deer-shape with very un-deer-like colours drew Cursico to a reluctant stop. The crazy thought that fate had stopped him from going to the edge of a drop flickered into his mind. After all, this was the first deer he had seen since daring to come inland. Though to be fair he had only been wandering around for a couple of days. He eyed Syth's strange coat curiously, picking up the smell of tiger coming from her. A deer appearing at just the right time and being a shapeshifter!(No guesses to what she could turn into, though he might have been wrong. Afterall, she could have just gone tiger-bashing. She might not be a shapeshifter after all, just a weirdly marked Doe)
He huffed when she shook her head at him, making a sulk-worthy face. It wasn't like he went around choking on sand by design. Cursico jerked his chin down closer to his chest defiantly. Only now did his drooling become something of an embarassment, it hardly made him look good. Maybe she couldn't be completely blamed for shaking her head at him. He spat again, gagging at the rough feel of his tongue against the back of his throat. He hated sand! He never wanted to see this place ever again, never ever for forever!
"Hello" He greeted in return, sure he could feel sand scraping the inside's of his mouth into red pulp each time his jaw moved. Sure enough his throat was beginning to throb. "I'm Cursico" To top it off, it was as if the sand was absorbing all the moisture in his throat and mouth. He couldn't spit now, when he tried he almost threw up all over his 'Guest'.
Horrible, gritty, gets-everywhere-you-don't-want-it-to-be sand! Cursico thought, his face getting sulkier. "You don't know how to get rid of sand do you?" He asked, with a hint of hopefullness tinting his voice. Maybe all the deer around here consumed sand at one point or other, and had a magical cure for getting it out.

She watched him, laughing. She stepped back quickly. "Nice to meet you Cursico.." She smiled at him as he spat out the sand and asked her how to get rid of sand. "Just drink water, ignore it or eat." She said gently. [/center] |

Ignoring it won't make it go away. He thought glumly, disappointed there was no miracle cure for sand infections. Though eating seemed such an odd idea, that would involve swallowing, which would put the sand down into his gut. His mind was already making him think he could feel the sand rubbing against his stomach, wearing him away from the inside. He groaned, ears drooping as far down as they could go. Once again, he looked up at the sky. If only he could have reached those clouds, surely he could drink out of them.
He wanted to stomp his hooves and cry, and it was very tempting. He wasn't far past the age when that was acceptable. He settled for stomping one of his hooves and tossing his head up and down as if something was on his horns that needed a good shake to be dislodged. "You think I can drink rain as it falls?" He asked, squinting at the clouds now. They had to drop rain soon, at least he'd been spared trying to reach salty water. If he squinted hard enough, he was sure he could see rain falling in the ocean, whilst the wind continued to roll the clouds in their direction. It didn't occur to him the reason the clouds looked so angry, was because they were storm clouds. Hopefully the clouds would forgive him for such a mistake.

She shrugged, a bit board by now. She sighed and looked up at the clouds then made her way into the water, bathing herself. "Probberly. I hope it won't raise right now..." She said looking up and thinking about getting drenched and shivered. [/center] |

"Why wouldn't you want it to rain!?" Cursico asked, his tone of voice offended. Though she probably didn't mean it against him, it was still a dig. And oh dear, speaking in such a rough voice had done it for him. He promptly threw up, managing to turn his neck away from Syth before doing so. After leaving an unrespectful mark on the land, and left with an acidic but ungritty taste in his mouth, he felt much better. Though he still glanced hopefully at the clouds covering the darkening sky.
He laughed his delight, turning his up-turned tail at the sand which had dared to enter his mouth, and kicking more sand over it. "Rain makes the world Grooooooooooow!" He enthused, tossing his head up and down again. The burn in his throat was already subsiding. The stag reared up onto his hind legs, kicking out at the air with a self-satisfied grin which could have been on another deer after it just saved the life of a fawn.

The young doe stared at him. Beginning to get the anger rising. She could eaily loose her temper and she hated to be teased, or even offend anyone about bloody rain. "For goodness sake." She growled turning and eating at the salt marsh. She kept an eye on him, but she lept as he reared up. She looked away satisfied with the grass beside her. [/center] |

Cursico clomped his teeth together, eyes narrowing at she turned away. She was easy to be with. "Sorry Miss High And Mighty" He drawled, mocking voice topped with a sneering bow. "Didn't know Miss Priss hates anything that doesn't involve quiet whispering." He stuck his tongue out at her, heartily blowing a raspberry whilst keeping his head down, looking out below his horns. She'll get fat if she keeps downing that stuff... He thought, not saying it aloud because he'd learnt women got vey angry if you called them fat, even the ones that were so obscenely obese that they sweated sitting down in a cooler.
He grinned at her, flicking his ears forward in anticipaton. Maybe she'd turn into a tiger and try to eat his head off! He'd like to see that, he'd never seen a live tiger before, and even then only a glimpse of its trademark fur before his mother ad shuffled him off.

She smirked. Turning around, so that she wouldn't each much more. A laugh came from her gritted teeth as she let herself melt to a Tiger. Growling under her breath. She smiled and crouched down. "Shall we have a bit of fun?" She asked teasingly and lept forward, thinking he would join in, for a bit of play fighting, or just running around. [/center] |

"Now thats more like it." He complimented, looking her up and down. Cursico decided he liked tigers, they were a very beautiful species with a vicious edge. An instinctive rush of adrenaline flushed through him. With a defiant snort- which sounded more like a cough of laughter than anything- he twisted around on the spot, and set about running away from the huge moggy. Proudly flaunting his horns and zigzagging wildly, sand flying off from his hooves.
"Come on then you huge kitty-pet!" He taunted, waving the white-side of his tail at Syth. Time to find out whether or not the tigers large size hindered its movement. If it turned out a tiger was more agile than a deer, he could always test to see if a fox was more nimble on paw a fifth the size Syth's were.

She laughed a little, syth trotted on, her paws flicking up the dirt. Growling she lept on to a rock and roared. Flicking her tail she attempted to bit his white tail with a roar she tried again to leap on his hind quaters. She flew infront of him and snapped at his antlers. [/center] |

They roared pretty loudly too, he noted with a little awe. Cursico concentratd his attention behind him, having eyes on the side of his head meant he didn't have to turn his head to look around, though it did meant he couldn't see directly in front of him. Life gives and it takes. Me made a comical face of horror when he saw the tiger was trying to get his fuzzy tail! Not his tail! Cursico put on an extra burst of speed, curling his tail until the end brushed along his back.
He was sure when Syth jumped she was going after his tail again. She wanted his tail! He darted to the side, body almost going parallel to the ground before he strained up, flaunting his horns some more. "Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk!" He crowed, taking a 'moderate' victory for rescuing his tail. And found himself looking at Syth in front of him. Agility was no problem.
Cursico pushed forward at her, horns bravely searching the air in front of his charge. He even made an attempt at his own roar, but it sounded more like a sloth's grunt when it gets up in the morning.

Cursico's automatic response to feeling weight on his horns was to go faster and push harder. Which is exactly what he did. Instead of getting his horns tugged out by their roots, he moved with them- luckily so. When Syth let go, his momentum made him keep going, and headbutt a protruding rock. Grunting in annoyance, he tossed his head back up. He wished rocks could feel pain, then they wouldn't let him gouge at their surface!
The buck turned back to watch the tiger, it was always a bad idea to lose sight of whoever you were fighting with. An incredibly bad idea. He snorted, deciding he shouldn't try to roar, not even as a fox. Less loud noises worked fine, afterall, what was the point in being so loud when you were a stealthy hunter? Ha! Score twenty for Cursico, nothing for Syth.
Muscles rippled as Cursico lowered himself into a crouch. His antlers collapsed in on themselves, and all over his fur lengthened and changed into a white coat. His short fuzzy tail lengthened and thickened as he changed to a smaller form. Soon a little fox stood on its dainty paws, head c*cked at the now much, much, much larger tiger.
